Facts

  • This site is now occupied by the IDS Center.
  • The first portion of the building was a three story structure of 1892 at 721 Nicollet Avenue (John Nicholson, developer and Orff Brothers, architect).
  • The second phase of construction was an enlargement above, to the north and to the east in 1897 (Samuel S. Thorp, developer, Long & Kees, architects and H.N. Leighton Company, general contractor).
  • The portion at 715 (later 713-715) Nicollet Avenue was designed by Anton Jensen for McMichael Investment Company in 1922; the earlier portions were remodeled to resemble this.
