  • The building serves as the Alberta Government Centre for southern Alberta.
  • Originally the Calgary Normal School, training center for thousands of Commonwealth teachers, the building was renamed McDougall School in 1922 in honour of Reverend George McDougall.
  • It was declared a historic site in 1982.
  • On September 3, 2004, a memorial to Alberta's air servicemen and women was dedicated on the grounds. The memorial includes a statue of an air serviceman and 1,600 names of those who fell during World War II.
