Facts

  • First built after the Kaicheng period during the Tang Dyansty.
  • The building has undergone repairs in the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties.
  • Buddhist statues and scriptures were discovered in the pagoda's underground palace when it was repaired in 1979.
  • The oldest standing structure in Southwest China.
  • The pagoda is situated on top of the ruins of Chongsheng Monastery.
  • Four Chinese characters "Yong Zhen Shan Chuan", meaning "everlasting sovereignty over the mountains and rivers", are engraved at the base of the pagoda.
  • The pagoda reflects the typical ancient architecture of the Tang Dynasty.
  • The first tier of the pagoda stands 13 meters tall.
  • An umbrella shaped bronze bell is situated at the top of the pagoda.
  • Two octagonal pagodas are situated 70 meters north and south from the Qianxun Pagoda.
