  • Dating from 1370, the west tower is home to one of Ireland's largest peal of bells.
  • The writer Jonathan Swift was dean of the cathedral from 1713 to 1745.
  • The cathedral is the largest church in Ireland.
  • On March 22nd 1940 several stalls were destroyed by a mouse which had caused a short circuit in the cathedral's electrical wiring resulting in a fire.
