  • St. Mary's exterior is of sandstone and ashlar with a Norman tower and porches.
  • The transepts are Early Gothic, the aisles are Perpendicular whilst the southeast Chapel is in the Decorated style.
  • The nave dates from around 1200 and is in the Transitional style; the arcades exhibit Norman arches.
  • St. Mary's spire is believed to be the third tallest in England.
  • This is Shrewsbury's only complete mediaeval church.
