Facts

  • The idea to build new a City Hall in Słupsk first appeared in 1894, but was considered by councillors as too expensive of an investment.
  • The plans for the project resurfaced in 1897 when financial problems disappeared. At this time an architectural competition to design the new City Hall was officially announced.
  • The main façade is decorated by the crests of Pomeranian cities.
  • The most generous patrons of the City Hall are memorialized on representational murals in the main lobby.
  • This is one of Słupsk's few monuments to survive World War II almost untouched. Especially important are the art nouveau interiors of some of its chambers.
