Facts

  • The tower was saved for posterity by Ewan Christian.
  • All that remains of St. Mary's today is the tower, which stands in a small garden on Lambeth Hill. The rest of the church was demolished by an Act of Parliament in 1874, having been built to replace an earlier church destroyed by the Great Fire of 1666.
