Facts

  • Elements of the Otto Marx mansion will be incorporated in the architectural design of the building.
  • Originally consisted of an 8 floor condominium tower atop a 3 floor parking garage for a total of 11 floors, this has since been scaled back to include a separate, 3 floor parking garage to the north of the tower.
  • Originally proposed as Marx Manor, taking its name from the 95-year old, former Mary Lewis Convalescent Center, which is also known as the Otto Marx mansion.
  • Birmingham's Design Review Committee granted a permit to demolish the Marx Mansion, and allow for the construction of the condo on March 1, 2005.
  • Construction commenced on September 21, 2006, over a full year after the Marx mansion was demolished.
