  • The structure was originally constructed as the Boulevard Temple Methodist Episcopal Church, and included a 9-story apartment tower, the church, and the 5-story church school.
  • In 1973, Detroit architect Nathan Levine designed a renovation for the complex which include refurbishing the church to integrate it into the rest retirement complex.
  • The apartment section of the complex was converted to senior citizens' housing in 1962, and the church was decommissioned in 1973 having moved to the suburbs leaving this part of the complex abandoned.
  • The complex was designed in a mixed Neo-Gothic/Art Deco architectural style.
