  • The first steel column for this structure was placed on May 5, 1913.
  • Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
  • Takes its name from the developer of the original Tutwiler Hotel, Major Edward M. Tutwiler.
  • The Tutwiler was established in 1986 after a $15 million restoration of the Ridgeley Apartments to replace the original Tutwiler Hotel that was demolished in 1974.
  • The Tutwiler has been a member of the Historic Hotels of America since 2002.
