  • In 1930, the St. George, Casa Del Rey, and Palomar hotels united to make Santa Cruz the top Northern California convention city outside of San Francisco.
  • Damaged in the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake.
  • Following extensive renovations, it reopened in 1991 as a low-income, senior living residential hotel.
  • It has always been a County of Santa Cruz statute that no new building can be higher than the Palomar.
