Facts

  • The Farwell Building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.
  • Fire Insurance maps indicate the building is 106 feet to the main roof, not including the penthouse.
  • The building underwent a modernization in the 1950's that included the removal of the cornice. By 1984, though, the building was officially vacated.
  • The Farwell Building was originally constructed as a speculative office building, and attracted dentists, attorneys and other professionals.
  • In October 2009, the State of Michigan Land Bank Fast Track Authority announced it's plans to purchase the building for $3.3 million in hopes of finding a redeveloper for the property. Lansing-based Karp & Associates were chosen in 2012 to redevelop the building.
