Originally proposed as a commercial building of 20 floors, the developer changed it to residential use because of the depressed commercial office market in the Bay Area after 2001.
Neighborhood groups and the city of South San Francisco requested that the developer move the new residential structure to a different location on the property. The height was also reduced to 13 floors.
New plans released in 2006 indicate this building will, once again, likely contain commercial offices, and will rise 21 floors.
