Facts

  • The building was firstly named "the Hiroshima Prefectural Commercial Exhibition".
  • The name was changed to "the Hiroshima Prefectural Products Exhibition Hall" in 1921, and again, in 1933, to "the Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall".
  • At 8:15 a.m. on 6 August 1945 (Japan time), the building was destroyed by atomic bomb.
  • The Dome was registered on the the UNESCO World Heritage Committee's World Heritage List December 5,1996.
