Facts

  • The Stabile Building was originally nine floors, constructed during 1999 and 2000. The Rochester City Council approved a vertical expansion on August 16, 2004.
  • The new facility contains a Genomics research center, jointly operated by the Mayo Clinic and the University of Minnesota. The state bonding bill, funding this initiative, was signed by Governor Pawlenty in April 2005.
  • Construction of the vertical expansion began in June 2005, with completion reached in late 2006.
  • The expansion increased the building's height from 152 to 211 feet, and expanded the gross floor area by 65,638 square feet.
  • The Campbell Hotel, on the northwest corner of this site, was demolished in 1999 just prior to the start of construction.
