  • Local preservation groups around the country were surprisingly pitted against the National Trust for Historic Preservation which supported demolition of this building.
  • The 9th Street Garage replaced this building after demolition.
  • Much controversy surrounded the demolition of this building, regarded as one of the finest century-old structures downtown.
  • The City of St. Louis is seeking opportunities to redevelop the Syndicate Trust Building after the competion of demolition.
  • Before demolition, the Century Building was joined with the Syndicate Trust Building, just to the west.
  • It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.
  • Demolition began on October 19, 2004 to make way for a new parking garage to support a renovated Old Post Office, directly across 9th Street.
