Facts

  • Forty-two residential lofts will be built in the old City Hall. Several rooms will be converted uniquely redesigned safes used previously by various city departments.
  • The fifth floor, which formerly had separate men's and women's jail cells, will become penthouses when the renovation is complete.
  • The three-story former Kansas City, Kansas police garage will become an indoor parking facility. It will be connected to the main building by a walkway.
  • The north half of the block, still occupied by the Fire Department Headquarters, will be permanently sealed off from the renovated south structure.
  • The restoration project was formally dedicated June 17, 2005 and heralded as the beginning of a residential renaissance for Downtown Kansas City, Kansas.
