  • The defunct architectural firm of Wight and Wight of Kansas City, Missouri is also credited with designing these other noted KC area structures: The Kansas City (MO) Life Insurance Company Headquarters Building (1924 and the Nelson Gallery of Art and Atkins Museum (KCMO-1930).
  • Other prominent structures include: Jackson County Courthouse Annex (1930-34/Independence is the County Seat) and the Kansas City, Missouri City Hall (1935-38).
  • Referred to as "The Million-Dollar Courthouse" when it was completed -- which was a considerable sum of money during the Depression in a working-class city.
  • Since the city-county consolidation in 1997, the courthouse has been dubbed the UG Building WEST.
