Facts

  • From the 1880's until after World War II, Kansas City was the largest city in Kansas (Wichita passed it in the 1950 U. S. Census), meaning many important Sunflower state business and political events occured in the Grund's Rose Ballroom.
  • Foundation and first four floors were built, but after owner/developer George Grund died, the upper six stories were never completed. This was KCK's premier hotel facility until the Town House Hotel opened in 1951.
