Facts

  • Jean Willerval designed a triangular building that fills the shape of the land located at the foot of the business district of La Défense.
  • The design enables a large elevation surface area, giving each office natural light.
  • In contrast to the pendant Tour Gan with its right-angles, the Tour Athéna's pointy shape looks to people crossing the Seine like the thin prow of a boat.
  • Viewed from the esplanade, the facade has a vertical groove in it that breaks up the uniformity of this large glass surface.
  • The Athéna's lower floors with their curious protrusions look as they've been punched out from behind.
