Facts

  • The building was the first in Adelaide to require air rights permission.
  • Due to economic problems faced by the developer, first only the carpark was built.
  • In September 2000, plans were announced to add 8 floors of residential apartments to the carpark structure.
  • The lower half of this building was built in 1967, as part of a larger proposal to build a hotel which included the first 8 floors as car-parking.
  • The world's largest one-piece fibreglass swimming pool, measuring 20.6m will be installed on the rooftop of the building.
  • A pedestrian bridge above Charles Street links the carpark component of the building with the David Jones Department Store.
