This was to have been the head office of Peter Pocklington's Canadian business empire in better days. Mr. Pocklington was once the owner of the Edmonton Oilers of the NHL and is known for having traded Wayne Gretzky to the Los Angeles Kings.
The city rejected a bid by Pocklington to put up a 32-storey apartment at the same site in 1980, Patrician Apartments.
