Facts

  • Third National Bank merged with C & S Bank in 1920. The building was then known as Citizens and Southern National Bank building.
  • In 1932, C & S Bank moved across the street to the newly-renovated J. Mack Robinson College of Business Administration.
  • Third National Bank was demolished in the 1960's because it was thought to be blocking the view of Atlanta's new tallest building, First National Bank of Atlanta. It was replaced with the 8-story Andrew Young Center for Policy Studies, affiliated with Georgia State University.
  • This 17-story building was pictured on a vintage 1920's postcard which showed the 17-story Third and Fourth National Bank buildings on Marietta Street, separated by two three-story buildings. The Fourth National Bank building was later converted into The Metropolitan condominiums.
