Facts

  • During the launch of the space shuttle this water tower supplies thousands of gallons of water to the launch pad. The water is used to insulate the sound vibrations that are created from the rockets taking off. If it were not for the water the shuttle, rockets and launch tower would be damaged by the sound. Also the sound is so loud as it is with the water that no one is allowed within 5 miles of the site because of the noise.
