Facts

  • The Moose Tower Observatory was built atop the Tower Hotel. It had several elevators, three viewing platforms at differing heights, and a stairway.
  • It wound up at the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition in St. Louis, where it was used by Marconi to transmit one of the first wireless messages.
  • This success was spoiled by ice which fell frequently from the tower onto the skylight of a neighboring museum. It was dismantled and moved after a court battle.
  • Considered the tallest and most beautiful structure in Niagara Falls at the time, it was a financial success.
