Facts

  • This structure is the fourth control tower at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, replacing one built in 1957.
  • The structure rises directly from the track grandstands and features exposed structural steel. Cantilevered slabs allow for exterior viewing platforms that provide unobstructed views of the racetrack.
  • This building houses media support facilities and private viewing suites for the Hulman Family, owners of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
  • Commonly referred to as the 'Pagoda' due to its unique design, this newest control tower is a contemporary update of the original 1911 structure.
  • The Indianapolis Motor Speedway was added to the National Register of Historic Places and named a National Historic Landmark in 1975.
