Facts

  • This was once one of St. Paul's finest hotels, located in a fashionable district west of The Cathedral of Saint Paul.
  • The Blair Flats, built the same year, just one block away, still stands as an important landmark in Cathedral Hill.
  • It was purchased by the Federal Government in 1920 and used as a hospital for veterans returning from World War I.
  • The name The Aberdeen was resurrected for a new mid-rise condominium complex, just one block to the north, on the southeast corner of Marshall and Western Avenues.
  • It stood vacant for many years before being razed in 1944. The site is now home to the YWCA of St. Paul.
