Facts

  • Completed in 1960 as the Stoddard Building, named after the president of the bank at the time, Howard J. Stoddard.
  • The Michigan State Senate purchased the building in 1978, and housed it's offices there until moving to the nearby Capitol View Building in January 2017.
  • The first two floors of the building were purposefully built for Michigan National Bank's mortgage loan department on the groundfloor, with an electronics processing center on the second floor.
  • The building is connected to the Olds Tower across the street by a ceramic tiled-lined tunnel underneath Allegan Street.
  • Vacant since 2017, the building is expected to undergo a $20 million renovation in late 2019. Five to eight office tenants will occupy the building upon reopening.
