  • Kahn's Department Store was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.
  • Long a landmark in the heart of Oakland, it features a grand rotunda covered by a gold-leaf-trimmed elliptical glass dome which rises high above the roof.
  • The building was heavily damaged during the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake and was closed for renovations for many years.
