  • The top of the tower was added from 1844 to 1846 and is designed by the English architect William Chantrell.
  • This church was declared cathedral in 1834 and so replaces Sint-Donaaskathedraal as cathedral.
  • The building was previously listed as being 88 metres high but that is because it was built on a land 8 metres above sea level. This mistake is now corrected. the building is 79.9 metres high.
