  • Istanbul's famous Pera Palas Hotel was built for the purpose of hosting the passengers of the Orient Express.
  • Designed by the French architect Alexandre Vallaury, the hotel opened in October 1891. Being built on the pendant terrain of Tepebasi Hill, the building has different numbers of floors above ground on its different façades. The western façade has 9 floors above ground, the eastern façade (with the main entrance) has 7 floors above ground, while the northern and southern façades have 8 floors above ground.
