Facts

  • As part of a major redevelopment of this and a neighbouring site, World Trade Centre London, was proposed and approved for the site. However, this was scrapped and replaced with the residential Discovery Dock scheme in 2002 when the office scheme failed to secure any tenants.
  • Discovery Dock is being built on a site originally occupied by South Quay Plaza One, a 7-storey office building built as part of the South Quay Plaza project in 1987. Heavily damaged by an IRA bomb in 1996, the building was demolished shortly after, leaving an empty site.
