Facts

  • Is considered the oldest bridge of The Netherlands.
  • The bridge is called Sint-Servaasbrug since 1932. Before that it was simply called 'De Brug' (The Bridge).
  • Partly destroyed by retreating Dutch troops at the start of the German invasion in 1940. It was again damaged when German troops blew it up one day before the liberation of Maastricht in 1944.
