The tower rises out of the 5-story Western Newspaper Union loft structure, which was built in 1913. The printing plant's façade and front structure are preserved, while the back section has been demolished.
The Edge is located on the western edge of Chicago's downtown, facing the Kennedy Expressway between Union Station and Greektown.
Eleven of the sixth-floor units have terraces on the roof of the loft building.
