  • The original Multnomah Hotel opened February 8, 1912.
  • The Embassy features 276 guest rooms and suites.
  • Built by Portland entrepreneur Philip Gevurtz.
  • The hotel had 700 rooms for 50 years and was the "grandest" place to stay in all the Pacific Northwest.
  • Before the last transformation, the hotel was the former headquarters for the Portland U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
  • Western Hotels was the owner of the building from 1931 until early 1960's.
  • Restored to its 1920's elegance in 2000 after being offices for the government from early 1960's to early 1990's.
  • The building has been listed in the National Register of Historic Places since February 28, 1985.
  • The renovation cost was US $40,000,000.
  • The hotel was the largest hotel in Portland until 1961.
  • When the hotel first opened, it was the largest building in Portland.
