  • The pyramid is known as the Red Pyramid due to the colouration of the limestone used for its construction. In ancient times it was known as 'Sneferu is shining', after King Sneferu.
  • This was the world's tallest structure from about 2600BC to 2580BC. It was surpassed by the Pyramid of Khufu.
  • The interior of the pyramid contains three chambers, accessed by a 60m long corridor. The entrance is located 28m above the ground on the north side.
