Facts

  • In the shared courtyard of Bucklersbury House and Temple Court lies the remains of the Temple of Mithras, a Roman temple built in 2AD. Sadly, the temple remains were moved from their original site during construction and rebuilt by Legal & General, who had little regard for their historic value.
  • Bucklersbury House was described by the esteemed architectural historian Nikolaus Pevsner as "the largest and dullest of London's 1950s office blocks".
  • The demolition of Bucklersbury House was implemented as part of the Walbrook Square scheme, a planning application for which was submitted in May 2006.
