Structure in General

high-rise building
existing [completed]
structural expressionism

commercial office

  • A full-height atrium rises through the southwest quadrant of the building, with glass elevators and exposed escalators.
  • From the basement to the main floor there is a large red oval auditorium structure which is surrounded by a moat and accessed by glass bridges.
  • Two large cylinder towers rising through the atrium represent the rollers in a press machine.
  • Ouside the entrance is a 13-meter steel and aluminum sculpture of a running horse by Jürgen Goertz, titled "S-Printing Horse".
  • The facade is a glass curtain wall detached from the edges of the interior rooms.
  • Note to our users: The Legal Department of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen (which uses the building) forced this website to remove the majority of photos of this beautiful building. This behavior of the company is absolutely counter-productive and gives an extremely bad image of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen and the Print Media Academy.
