Facts

  • Proposed for the first time in 1990; the development was protested on the grounds that it would mar the view from the nearby outdoor historical museum called "Den Gamle By".
  • Approved by Århus City Council on September 13, 1995, more than 4 years before construction started.
  • Prismet was officially completed August 15, 2001.
  • Tallest high-rise building in Jutland, Denmark, from 2001 to 2003. Surpassed by KPMG Huset.
  • Prismet consists of both the glass tower and a lowrise wing ranging from 2-4 floors.
  • The footprint of the tower is only 550 square meters.
  • First high-rise building in Denmark with an all-glass facade.
  • The elevators use a system that automatically takes empty ones to the floors with the most traffic.
  • An underground carpark is connected to the building.
  • Before Prismet was built, the brewery across the street raised their chimney from 37 to 77 meters to avoid emissions on the new structure.
  • The building has a special designed crane on the top used for window washing.
