  • Designed in a French-Victorian Neo-Gothic style, it is built of red sandstone ornamented with white limestone.
  • The lofty central tower is flanked by two 150-foot, Norman-style towers. It features a clock on each of four faces and is topped by an 11-foot copper cross.
  • The tower holds chimes of twelve bronze bells weighing a total of fourteen tons. Every quarter-hour the clock chimes the melody 'Chimes of Erie,' written by Bishop John Mark Gannon in 1927.
  • St. Peter's Cathedral is the tallest building in downtown Erie.
