  • During WWII the hotel was exclusively leased to the United States Navy as a rest and recreation center for the Pacific Fleet. The hotel reopened to the public in February 1947.
  • The hotel is set on 10 acres of prime beachfront and is recognized around the world as the 'Pink Palace of the Pacific'.
  • The Spanish-Moorish style hotel originally opened with 525 rooms and its design was heavily influenced by Rudolph Valentino.
