Facts

  • The building originally had a beaux-arts style facade much like the Floridan Hotel.
  • Local businessman Wallace Stovall, founder of the Tampa Tribune newspaper, also developed the Stovall Building and the Stovall Professional Building.
  • The building was given a new modern facade after Founders Life purchased it in 1973.
  • It was modernized again when new owners took possession in 1983 and it was rebranded as the 100 Twiggs Building.
  • The building was purchased by Chesapeake Atlantic Holdings Inc. in 1998 for $1.15 million. Another $5 million was spent on renovations to the building that included giving the building a new postmodern scheme.
