Facts

  • Only one room wide, this building is 18 feet long, 10 feet wide, and 40 feet tall.
  • Built as a stock swindle that raised $200,000, investors thought they were investing in a 480 foot tower. But the blueprints were presented in inches instead of feet.
  • The investors tried to bring a lawsuit against J.D. McMahon, but the judge found that they didn’t have a case as they had all signed off on the original blueprints.
  • This local landmark's restoration is now complete and open for interior viewing.
  • Originally the floors were connected by ladders. Today a steep staircase is used. The staircase accounts for about 25% of floor space.
