Facts

  • The original hotel was constructed as an 8-story 178-room Ramada Inn in 1966. Robert Green purchased the hotel in 1967 and expanded it with multiple additions.
  • The 10-story west wing opened in 1972. Original plans called for an 11th level of penthouse suites that were never built.
  • The west wing was demolished in January 2010 as part of a redevelopment of the property by Browning Investments. Plans called for the remaining portion to be renovated and connected to the new Ford Center.
  • Browning Investments failed to secure financing for the renovation and returned the hotel to the city in August 2010. The rest of the hotel was demolished in May 2011.
