  • After a seven year renovation ending in 2002, it was elevated to a National Historic Landmark.
  • The courthouse dome is topped with a 13.5 foot tall wind vane in the form of the Goddess of Liberty.
  • The building contains four 25 x 45 foot murals by Charles Holloway.
  • The rotunda rises 110 feet above the main floor.
  • The interior staircases, balustrades, and walls are constructed of white Carrara marble.
  • The interior features what may be the largest example of scagliola in the world. Scagliola is a unique faux-marble decorative art.
