Facts

  • It is the tallest building completed in Indiana during 2000.
  • Hotel officials announced a second expansion in early 2006. With 250 additional rooms, it would make this the largest hotel in Indiana.
  • The tower expansion was canceled in May 2007 after the Indiana Legislature voted to allow slot machines at horse tracks in Anderson and Shelbyville. Both of those facilities are near Indianapolis, which casino owners believe will reduce the number of visitors to Belterra from the state's capital.
  • This casino complex is a few miles east of Vevay in remote Switzerland County, approximately halfway between Cincinnati and Louisville. In addition to the complex, F.A. Wilhelm Construction Company also built a wastewater treatment plant for the nearby village of Florence.
  • During 2003-2004 a 12-story, 300 room addition was added to the property, making the Belterra Casino Resort Hotel one of the largest in Indiana.
  • This is the only high-rise in Indiana located in a rural area.
