In 1935 an 8-story building was added to the complex, leading to the name "Wilson Plaza North". Also called the Cotton Exchange because it was offices for many cotton traders.
The Nixon Building, (Wilson Plaza East), originally stood only 50 feet from the edge of the bay. Through the years landfill was brought in and downtown was developed. The building now sits nearly a mile from the water.
