  • The Kobacker Building once stood on this site.
  • The hotel was originally built as the $37 million, 369-room Hyatt Regency Hotel, but changed hands several times over the next few decades including stints as the Raddison, Riverfront, Ramada, and Character Inn.

  • The Institute in Basic Life Principles acquired the former Hyatt Regency Hotel on June 16, 2000 with a grand opening of October 13 of that year, and prohibited drinking, smoking, rock music, and X-rated movies in the hotel.
  • In December 2008, the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation announced that they would purchase the hotel, later transferring their option to buy to Flint's Uptown Reinvestment Corp. who purchased the hotel in January 2009.
  • Owners Uptown Reinvestment Corp. announced in February 2009 that they had begun converting the former hotel into the 550-bed Riverfront Residence Hall, a privately owned-and-operated dormitory for the University of Michigan - Flint.
