  • First steel-frame skyscraper in Memphis.
  • Fire Insurance Maps indicate this building is 130 feet to the main roof, not including the penthouse.
  • The family of local pharmacist, Doctor D.T. Porter, bought the building and renamed it as a memorial to him.
  • It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.
  • The D.T. Porter Building was renovated and converted to apartments in 1982-83. It’s currently condominiums.
  • At completion this was the tallest building in the world to have a circulating hot water system.
