Facts

  • Memorial Bell Tower was built to honor thirty-three NC State alumni who died in World War I.
  • It was built in two stages. The first stage, constructed in 1921, was built of reinforced concrete sheathed in Mounty Airy granite. The second stage, completed in 1937, consists of solid granite blocks extending through the thickness of the walls.
  • The clock and carillonic bells were added in 1949.
